SGGU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - 31 Posts Across 17 Departments

Shri Govind Guru University (SGGU), Vinzol-Godhra, established under Gujarat Act No. 24/2015, has released Advertisement No. 06/2026 dated 25 August 2026 for the recruitment of 31 Assistant Professors across 17 academic departments. The recruitment is governed by the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers, 2018, and applicable university rules.

Candidates with a Master's degree with 55% marks along with NET/SLET/SET or a qualifying Ph.D., as applicable to the respective discipline, are eligible to apply. The online application process started on 27 August 2026 and will remain open until 17 September 2026. Candidates must also submit the hardcopy of the online application along with required documents by 25 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM.

Selected candidates will be placed in the Vertical Pay Range of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 under Academic Level-10, along with Dearness Allowance and other benefits as per the norms of the State Government and University rules. The selection is based on shortlisting through an Academic Score followed by a personal interview.

A total of 31 Assistant Professor vacancies (Academic Level-10) are spread across 17 academic departments. One post is reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD - Category A: Blind and Low Vision), and several posts are reserved for women candidates.

• One post is reserved for PwBD (Category A: Blind and Low Vision) under Biotechnology.
• Reservation for Persons with Disabilities follows existing Government of Gujarat norms.
• The number of vacancies is as per the official notification and may be subject to change.

SGGU Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria 2026

Eligibility is governed by the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers, 2018, University Rules, and for technical disciplines, AICTE Notification, 2019.

General Eligibility (Most Disciplines)

• A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• The candidate must have cleared NET conducted by UGC or CSIR, or an equivalent test such as GSLET/GSET/SLET/SET, OR have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations, 2009 or 2016.
• Candidates registered for a Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to conditions specified in the notification.
• NET/SLET/SET is not required for Master's programmes in disciplines where these tests are not conducted by UGC/CSIR.
• A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in QS, THE, or Shanghai (ARWU) World University Rankings is also accepted.

Selection for SGGU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 is based on shortlisting followed by a personal interview.

Shortlisting - Academic Score (Maximum 100 Marks)

• Mere fulfilment of eligibility conditions does not guarantee a call for interview; the number of candidates called is decided by the University based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed.
• Final selection is based solely on performance in the personal interview.
• Call letters for shortlisted candidates will be sent by email and also displayed on the university website.
• No TA/DA is paid to candidates attending the interview.

How to Apply for SGGU Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026

• Step 1: Visit the official SGGU recruitment portal at www.sggu.ac.in/recruitement.php and fill the online application form for the desired post.
• Step 2: Pay the applicable application fee (Rs. 2,000 for General or Rs. 1,500 for Other Categories) through the online mode.
• Step 3: After submitting the online application, take a printout (hardcopy) of the submitted form.
• Step 4: Attach self-attested copies of certificates proving qualifications, experience, publications, and all other claims, arranged in proper sequence with numbering as per the checklist in Annexure-II.
• Step 5: Send the hardcopy application with all enclosures to: The Establishment Officer (OSD), Shri Govind Guru University, Vinzol - 388713 by Registered Post/Speed Post or in person, on or before 25 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
• Step 6: In-service candidates must also submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer, or an Annexure-III endorsement from the employer.

• Applications without online submission, hardcopy sent without the corresponding online application, incomplete applications, or applications on plain paper will not be considered.
• Candidates applying for more than one post must submit a separate online application, hardcopy, and requisite fee for each post.

SGGU Assistant Professor Important Instructions 2026

• SEBC candidates must submit a valid Non-Creamy-Layer certificate for the current financial year in the prescribed format.
• SC/ST/SEBC/EWS/PwBD candidates must submit the prescribed certificate as per State Government norms; failure to do so will forfeit reserved-category benefits.
• Candidates with a foreign university degree must produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• Providing incorrect or false information, or suppressing information, will lead to disqualification and, if already appointed, dismissal.
• Direct or indirect canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• Any changes, amendments, or updates regarding this recruitment will be posted only on the official university website.
• In case of any dispute, the territorial jurisdiction will be Godhra only.
