Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 – 82 Tax Assistant and MTS Posts
The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal and Sikkim Region has invited applications from meritorious sportspersons for recruitment to the cadre of Tax Assistant (TA) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Income Tax Department. The recruitment is being conducted under the provisions of DoPT OM No. DOPT-1720781414772 dated 04.03.2024.
A total of 82 vacancies are available — 25 for Tax Assistant and 57 for Multi-Tasking Staff — across 17 recognized Games/Sports. Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Eligibility Criteria 2026

Age Relaxation: 5 years for UR/OBC candidates and 10 years for SC/ST candidates as per DoPT OM dated 04.03.2024. This relaxation applies only to candidates who satisfy all other eligibility conditions and furnish a certificate in the prescribed format as per Annexure-C.
Sports Eligibility: Meritorious sportspersons who represented a State or Country in National or International competitions, or medal winners in Junior National Championships, Khelo India Youth Games (above 18 years), Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Para Games, Khelo India University Games, or SGFI events. Participation/achievements between 01.01.2022 and 30.06.2026 will be considered.
Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Selection Process 2026
The selection process for Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota recruitment involves the following stages:
- Application Scrutiny: Applications are scrutinized for nationality, age, educational qualification, and sporting performances between 01.01.2022 and 30.06.2026.
- Document Verification: Eligible shortlisted candidates are called before the Selection Committee for verification of attested photocopies and forms submitted with the application.
- Ground/Field Proficiency Test: Shortlisted candidates undergo a proficiency test to evaluate their skills in the respective sport/game.
- Data Entry Skill Test (TA only): Candidates shortlisted for Tax Assistant must qualify a Data Entry Skill Test at 8,000 key depressions per hour.
- Final Selection: Based on evaluation of best performances combined with marks from the Ground/Field Proficiency Test, strictly in order of merit.

- Download the application form in the prescribed format from Annexure-A of the notification.
- Fill the application form in black or blue ink, in Capital Letters.
- Attach a recent colour passport-size photograph duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
- Attach attested photocopies of all supporting documents for nationality, date of birth, age, educational qualification, caste, and sports achievements.
- Write on the envelope: "APPLICATION FOR THE POST(S) OF ______ FOR RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS IN INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT, WEST BENGAL and SIKKIM".
