Eligibility Criteria — Who Can Apply?
The eligibility for AIIMS Kalyani Junior Resident recruitment is straightforward but strict. You need to hold an MBBS degree from an institution recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Along with the degree, you must have completed the compulsory rotating internship and hold a registration certificate from any State Medical Council. The internship completion certificate is mandatory at the time of application.
An important condition is the recency of the MBBS qualification. Candidates who have passed MBBS including internship not earlier than 3 years before the start date of Junior Residency, which is 24th August 2026, will be considered. This means your MBBS internship should have been completed on or after 24th August 2023. However, candidates whose internship will be completed on or before 24th August 2026 can also apply and appear for the written exam and interview, but they must produce the original internship completion certificate on the day of the exam or interview.
Candidates who have already completed 2 terms of Junior Residency (Non-Academic), either at AIIMS or any other institution, are not eligible. A term of JR Non-Academic is 6 months. If a candidate joins and leaves at any point, it counts as one full term irrespective of the actual duration worked. Experience in Army Services, Central Health Services, Private Nursing Homes and Private Practice is treated as equivalent to Junior Residency for this purpose. A separate application is required for each term.
