AHVD Assam VFA Recruitment 2026 – 200 Veterinary Field Assistant Posts

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam has released the notification (No. E-543943/71 dated 26 August 2026) for 200 Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and allied cadre posts. The recruitment is conducted in pursuance of Government of Assam approval letter No. E-837098/34 dated 26 August 2026. The posts are filled as per existing vacancies in respective categories, based on the Post Based Roster Register.

Online applications are open from 3 September 2026 (10:00 hrs) to 23 September 2026 (23:59 hrs) at animalhusbandry.assam.gov.in. There is no application fee for any category of candidate. Selection is through an OMR-based written test of 100 marks covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and General Awareness at HSSLC (Science) standard. Selected candidates must complete a mandatory one-year training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science before appointment.

There are 200 vacancies for Veterinary Field Assistant and allied cadre posts under the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam. The vacancies are distributed across various reservation categories.

Ex-Servicemen candidates must upload their Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam, along with the Discharge Book, while applying for the reserved post.

AHVD Assam VFA Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates who have appeared for the HSSLC examination and are awaiting results are not eligible. Only candidates who have passed the qualifying examination at the time of application are eligible to apply.

AHVD Assam VFA Age Limit 2026

Upper Age Relaxation

• Age will be calculated based on the HSLC Pass Certificate/HSLC Admit Card/Certificate issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council, where the age/date of birth is clearly reflected.
• No other document will be accepted in lieu of this for age calculation.
• The age relaxation is as per Government of Assam Office Memorandum No. ABP.6/2016/51 dated 02-09-2020.

AHVD Assam VFA Salary 2026

In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will be entitled to allowances as per the Government of Assam rules, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other applicable allowances. During the mandatory one-year training period, stipend and allowances will be as per training rules.

AHVD Assam VFA Selection Process 2026

Selection for the entry-level cadre of Veterinary Field Assistant (or its equivalent post) is through an OMR-based written test of 120 minutes duration, for 100 marks across 100 questions, set at Class 12 (HSSLC Science) standard.

Exam Pattern

• The test is HSSLC (Science)-level, multiple-choice (MCQ) format.
• All questions carry equal marks. There is no negative marking.
• The OMR-based written test will be conducted at designated centres in Assam. The exact exam centre and date will be mentioned on the admit card.

Mandatory One-Year Training

Selected candidates must undergo a mandatory one-year training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar, and its extended campuses under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. Candidates must pass this training before appointment. The training is compulsory and forms part of the selection process.
